Selling hardware privately

You cannot sell used hardware to E-Waste Nederland as a private individual. Our services are exclusively aimed at companies and organisations. We thank you for your understanding and are happy to refer private individuals to specialised second-hand platforms such as Marktplaats or recycling initiatives for the sale and responsible disposal of IT equipment. You can also hand in old computers to charities, for example.

5 benefits of an ICT buyer

Hiring a professional ICT buyer offers several advantages and ensures that your hardware is disposed of efficiently and responsibly. And of course at the highest possible residual value.

Does your company have old, unused or written-off computer equipment? Then take a look below at the 5 benefits of having your IT equipment purchased.

1. Fast and efficient handling

An IT buyer takes over your surplus hardware in one go, without you having to spend time looking for individual buyers. Buying laptops in one batch, for example, saves your company valuable time and resources. Moreover, this often results in a better market value.

2. Fair and market-conform price

Computer buyers have experience with the current value of used hardware and offer you a fair price. This can be more advantageous than selling via online platforms, where negotiations are time-consuming and prices uncertain.

3. Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Many IT buyers ensure that your old equipment is reused or recycled in an environmentally friendly way. This contributes to sustainable business operations and prevents unnecessary e-waste.

4. Securely erase company data

Data security is crucial. Professional ICT equipment buyers offer certified services to securely and completely remove data, so you don't run the risk of data leaks or privacy issues.

5. Cost savings and logistical convenience

By selling in bulk, your company saves on storage costs and the logistical hassle of selling individually. An IT or electronics buyer takes care of the entire process, including transport and processing.

Experiences with depreciated IT equipment sales

By using E-Waste Nederland as a reliable IT buyer, DRS Infra was able to sell their surplus IT equipment in an efficient, safe and sustainable way. We received a good price for our used laptops. We were then able to use this residual value to purchase new computers. Very good experience!

How does buying old hardware work?

The process of buying back old hardware usually has 4 steps.

  • Step 1: Inventory
The purchase process starts with an inventory of the existing obsolete hardware. You can provide a list yourself or use our blank list to map everything. Do you find it difficult or do you not have time? Then we can assist you of course.
  • Step 2: Appreciate
Based on the inventory list, we make a provisional valuation. The final valuation of IT hardware takes place after we have checked all devices at our location. In most cases, this purchase price does not differ much from the initial price proposal.
  • Step 3: Collect and process
Once the appraisal and valuation is completed, we will schedule an appointment and come and collect the old hardware. We will take care of the transport and safe handling of the equipment. You can also bring the devices to our location yourself. You will receive a detailed list of all purchased devices within 30 days, and the final amount will be paid to you.
  • Step 4: Recycle hardware
Finally, we ensure responsible processing and disposal, whereby we recycle the equipment according to the applicable environmental standards and CSR and Weeelabex guidelines. The reusable computer components are reused, while residual material is processed in a sustainable manner to minimize electronic waste and e-waste.

Frequently asked questions about IT hardware purchase

For us, IT hardware purchasing is a daily routine, but we can imagine that you have questions. View the most frequently asked questions and answers below. Is your question not listed? Please contact us. Our employees will be happy to assist you.

What is my hardware worth?

The value of your hardware depends on several factors, such as the brand, model, age, specifications and condition of the equipment. To estimate the possible return, the following elements are important:

  • Age:
The older the hardware, the lower the value. Equipment that is more than 5-7 years old usually has no value, especially if it is outdated technology.
  • Specifications:
The more powerful the hardware (such as processor, amount of RAM, storage capacity), the higher the value. New and powerful systems usually have a higher value.
  • Hardware status:
Working, well-maintained equipment is more valuable than defective or damaged equipment.
  • Market demand:
If you would like to request an accurate residual value and valuation, you can have the hardware evaluated and valued by us with an inventory list.

What all falls under hardware?

Hardware includes all tangible components of a computer system, including internal components such as processors, motherboards, and storage media, as well as peripherals such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and networking equipment. It also includes servers and specialized IT equipment.

What are old computers worth?

The value of old computers depends on several factors, such as the brand, model, year of manufacture and specifications, such as processor, RAM, memory and storage. In addition, the technical and cosmetic condition and market demand affect the price of old computers.

What is hardware buying?

Hardware repurchase is the purchase of used or written-off IT equipment, such as computers, servers, telephones, laptops and tablets, in order to resell, refurbish, recycle for reuse or donate it to charity.

What is a good computer equipment buyer?

A good buyer of computer equipment is a reliable and transparent party that offers fair market prices or compensation for surplus or outdated IT equipment. Always use a recognized and certified (Weeelabex and ISO) party. This way you can be sure that the data removal is done correctly and that you contribute to sustainable recycling. In addition, a professional IT buyer offers efficient processing, including inventory, transport and a fast payment.
